Opening Talk with Coco Fusco, Elvira Dyangani Ose, Néstor Díaz de Villegas and Sandra Ceballos
Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona
To mark the opening of Coco Fusco’s exhibition I Learned to Swim on Dry Land, the artist will engage in conversation with other guests in order to explore some of the exhibition’s themes.
In Coco Fusco’s exhibition I Learned to Swim on Dry Land, the lives and imaginaries of dissident poets, writers and artists who suffered (or still suffer) political repression in post-revolutionary Cuba are interwoven in an audiovisual journey that invites us to question complex notions, such as revolution, power and the concept of homeland.
To mark the opening of the exhibition, artist and essayist Coco Fusco will engage in conversation with Elvira Dyangani Ose, director of MACBA and curator of the exhibition. The talk will also feature the participation of guests Néstor Díaz de Villegas, Cuban-American poet and essayist (who also stars in Coco Fusco’s film La noche eterna), and Sandra Ceballos, Cuban artist and activist.
